Quick diagnosis: is your filament wet?
- Audible: popping or crackling from the nozzle.
- Visual: rough or pitted surfaces, stringing despite good retraction.
- Mechanical: brittle filament that snaps on bends.
Storage options (from simplest to best)
- Zip bags + desiccant: cheap, portable; squeeze out as much air as possible.
- Gasketed plastic bins: drop in silica gel canisters; add a small humidity meter.
- Vacuum bags: great for long-term stashing; label clearly.
- Dry boxes: pass-through printing while desiccant or heat keeps spools dry.
Active drying before storage
