Summary

The 3DWOX 2X includes everything that made the 3DWOX 1 and DP201 so great with the addition of perfectly functioning independent dual extruders. This is possibly the king of 3D printers.

4.4
Sindoh 3DWOX 2X Dual Extruder 3D Printer
The 3DWOX 2X does everything the excellent 3DWOX 1 does but adds Alexa voice commands and a well-designed independent dual extruder functionality that takes this 3D printer to the next level, allowing you to take advantage of dual-color printing and dissolvable support structures.

The 3DWOX 2X is Sindoh’s latest and top of the line 3D printer, and it features some significant innovations as well as evolutions from previous models. Thankfully, it still retains all the great features that made the last two models so well-liked.

Sindoh is one of the biggest names in the 3D printing industry, producing some of the highest quality and easy to use 3D printers that just switch on and work, and that’s why I’ve been a fan ever since their first model.

Sindoh specializes in making easy-to-operate machines for both newbies and professionals. Their printers feature some of the most advanced technologies which make their 3D printers accessible to everyone.

The most significant upgrade on the 2X model is the addition of a second extruder that operates entirely independently of the first one. This opens up a whole world of benefits to you like the ability to print two materials or two colors at once.

One of the standout new features is that it’s the first 3D printer ever to boast connectivity to Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant! It also has an improved metal bed and high-resolution camera inside.

Most of the other features are evolutions to features seen on earlier models to improve the 3D printing experience, and it’s great to see that Sindoh has been listening to its customers.

However, there are some minor issues that you need to consider. For instance, even though the 2X is compatible with third-party filament materials, it is evident that Sindoh prefers you to use their own brand, with their easy to use filament cartridge system is a major selling point on all their models.

Features

Independent Dual Nozzle

The 3DWOX 2X features two independent nozzles each with their own hot end and extruder, so they can each print entirely independently and with their own material.

Dual nozzles mean the printer can handle a wide variety of printing materials and create complex textures and patterns.

You can print with different colors simultaneously to create an array of stunning patterns or printing with two different materials that can give you significant advantages like being able to use dissolvable support structures that negate the need for you to sand off supports and risk losing essential details from your print.

Additionally, the dual extruder enables you to print faster as you can print two objects at the same time with once nozzle on each. With two nozzles extruding the filament, simple projects can take half the time to finish while still maintaining their high quality.

Improved Metal bed

Sindoh has seriously upgraded its print bed on the 3DWOX 2X, making it flexible, heated, coated, and removable!

This quadruple whammy of features means you won’t be struggling to make your prints stick or to remove them once complete.

User interface

The user interface has become an important feature to consider when buying a 3D printer and it’s another area that Sindoh pioneered, with full-color touch screen and very well thought out menus that make it easy to control every setting without firing up your PC.

Alexa Voice Control & Voice Guidance

This is one of the most unexpected and innovative features of the 2X. When I first saw the announcement, it occurred to me that it makes perfect sense, and I wondered why it hadn’t been done before.

I do most of my 3D printing via cloud control software that talks to my 3D printers via Wi-fi. So making use of smart speakers to control your 3D printer makes perfect sense.

Alexa and other smart speakers are set to be the tool of the future in 3D printing. They will enable users to leverage voice controls to command the printer even from a distance. For instance, you can halt the printer, check how much time is left and even select a particular setting with voice control. You will only need to design the models, and Alexa and your Sindoh 3DWOX 2X will do the rest!

All this futuristic technology combines perfectly with the addition of voice guidance, so instead of a bleep to announce something important, a softly spoken voice notifies you that ‘Print Completed’!

Built-in camera

A built-in webcam keeps watch over your print progress, and you can view it on your PC or smartphone.

Adding a webcam to your 3D printer has become one of the most popular mods that people carry out. It enables you to keep a watchful eye on your printer wherever you are as well as record cool time-lapse videos of your prints.

Filaments are expensive, and it can be costly if the print spoils. A camera allows you to monitor the whole process to ensure nothing goes wrong and catch an error before it is too late.  Even though the camera does not have HD quality, it is a great feature to have in a 3D printer and saves you the cost and hassle of installing your own.

Automated filament loading

Sindoh’s first model, the DP200, was the first-ever 3D printer to have fully automated filament loading, and this unique feature has been carried through to the 2X. Sindoh filaments are contained in a large cartridge which is simply clicked into a slot in the printer before it is automatically fed to the extruder.

The great thing about Sindoh’s cartridge system is you don’t have to fork out for a whole cartridge every time you buy filament. You can, instead, open up the cartridge and quickly slip in a new filament spool.

If you’re often swapping between filament types, or you like to store your filament away when you’ve finished printing (you should store your unused filament in a vacuum-sealed dry storage), then the cartridge system makes this easier than on any other 3D printer.

Unboxing and box content

Due to its huge size, the 3DWOX 2X will be shipped in a large wooden crate. This is in contrast to most other 3D printers that are delivered in a cardboard box. The wooden crate ensures that the printer is not damaged during transit and is delivered in perfect condition.

Inside the crate, the 2X is packed inside a standard cardboard box, however, a neat design allows you to easily slide the box over the printer rather than lift the heavy 31kg 3D printer out of the box.

All tools required for initial setup and routine maintenance are included in the package.

Set up

The Sindoh 3DWOX 2X features assisted bed leveling, which is very crucial in the setup process. You will only be required to adjust thumbscrews to control the three axes under the print bed, assisted by the large LCD touchscreen. Sindoh has automated the process to ensure the calibration is accurate and straightforward.

The touchscreen is receptive and intuitive, allowing you to dive deeper into the settings with a wide selection of calibration options, while never feeling lost in a complex menu structure.

The 2X is shipped completely assembled. Once you have completed with leveling the print bed, you can start your first 3D print! The printer is loaded with a small collection of 3D print models. Or, if you prefer, you can create your own models and load them in the USB thumb or connect it with your PC via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

Software

Sindoh 3DWOX 2X slicing software, which is downloadable from their website, is very impressive. It slices models and generates g-code at astounding speed. Unlike other slicing software included with many 3D printers, Sindoh’s software includes a thoughtful feature set that helps to add supports onto your 3D models manually.

Sindoh’s slicing software is set at default ‘easy’ mode, which provides different print options that include fast, normal, silent, and slow. For experienced 3D printer users, there is an advanced mode that allows for more fine-tuning.

As mentioned previously, the printer is Wi-Fi enabled, which allows for remote monitoring and control. Furthermore, the companion app is compatible with both Android and iOS devices to cater to whichever Smartphone you have.

In-use

The 0.4mm nozzle is combined with a minimum layer resolution of 50-microns helps to produce finely detailed prints. You will notice that the hot end and the printing bed warm up very quickly.

You can start by printing the free 3D models packed in the USB thumb drive. If you encounter any issue, you can tinker with the settings to achieve more.

Pros

Quiet

The DP200 and 3DWOX 1 were already very quiet 3D printers, but Sindoh has continued their quest for silence and managed to reduce the noise of the machine further to a frankly astonishing 40dB! That’s about the same level as your desktop PC fans.

You can be working in the next room while the machine is printing and not hear a thing. If you are working next to it, the gentle hum is virtually unnoticeable.

Healthy and safe printing

Due to the overall design of the printer sealed enclosure and exhaust air filters, you can be confident that you can safely use the 3DWOX 2X in your home without worrying about harmful fumes.

When printing materials such as ABS, you will notice that the odor of the filament is not as noticeable as with other printers. Those that are sensitive to smell or prone to allergies can use the printer without the worry of worsening their symptoms.

The fully enclosed design is also beneficial when children are using or around the 3D printer to prevent their injury. An enclosed printer helps to cover hot parts to prevent curious fingers from getting hurt.

Easy and intuitive to use

While the setting up process of other printers is complicated, the LCD touchscreen on this printer makes it easy to use. The screen’s interface is fully colored, which offers a bright and easy to read display. It also shows helpful information, such as filament levels.

Perfect for ABS

The enclosed design, and heated bed, combined with the HEPA air filter, make this an ideal printer for printing ABS materials.

Cons

Works best with Sindoh’s own brand filament

Even though you can use a wide variety of third-party printing materials, the printer clearly designed to favor Sindoh’s own brand filament and cartridge system.

Less customization

3D printer enthusiasts will be disappointed because the printer does not allow tinkering with the components or the software. This is a 3D printer aimed at people that want to turn it on and print without a hassle rather than fault find and evolve it.

Conclusion

Sindoh remains the only company to make a 3D printer that fits into the home or office as a traditional paper printer does. For anyone who doesn’t want the hassle and fault finding associated with most 3D printers and just wants to design objects and print them, Sindoh remains the go-to brand.

The 3DWOX 2X is simply the top of the range model in the lineup. Offering all the benefits of Sindoh’s trusted models with the added benefit of two entirely independent extruders.

This 3D printer offers some of the best features wrapped in an attractive package eliminating unnecessary excesses. It is easy to set up with quick print setting making it one of the best 3D printers on the market.

If you require a customizable 3D printer, that you can take apart and tweak, this may not be a good option for you.

For everyone else, the 3DWOX is a reliable machine that will give you awe-inspiring results whether you’re a 3D printing novice or a professional user.

Happy printing!

-Dylan
